Why I don't promise results and why you shouldn't either

In a couple of weeks, I am jumping on a plane to South Africa to go safari.

But it's not just going to be any safari this time.

And it's not just that we had to wait 6 years to go back to one of the national parks we're going to but it's our first trip as travel bloggers.

And while I can not wait, I also feel some added pressure to deliver the goods for our blog.

So a couple of weeks ago I started keeping track of where the lions, cheetahs and leopards are in Kruger National Park, via the Latest Sightings app (this is an app is used by people on safari to let others know what they saw and where).

This all get's jotted down in a notebook so that we know where their territory is.

But even though we're tracking all their movements so we know which roads to take while on safari, this does not give us any guarantee we will actually see these lions, cheetahs and leopards.

It’s pretty much like that when it comes to investing in support to set your business up for success, too.

It is not only very exciting but you also feel this added pressure to deliver the goods aka see the results you're looking for from this investment.

If you're considering hiring a mentor you're probably wondering if you're hiring the right person to help you and if you're really going to get the support and results you're hoping for.

From the perspective of a business owner who has hired (and currently working with) a mentor I completely understand the feeling of wanting to know exactly what you're going to get out of it or what kind of results you can expect.

And as a service-based business owner, I'd love to guarantee you'll achieve your desired revenue while working fewer hours by working together, but I can't.

And there are a couple of reasons why:

++ I will always give a 100% to every client and will help you to define goals, create a step-by-step action plan, share strategies, resources, templates and anything else that I can offer, but I can't control the outcome of these.

++ While I'll be with you every step of the way to help you test and track the strategies we implement so you can stay on top of what's working and you'll know what to look at to make adjustments (even after I'm gone), strategies are not a set-and-forget kind of thing. What worked last month, might not work this month because the market you're in and the tools you're using are constantly changing.

I think you'll get the gist...

So the next time you come across a program that guarantees to teach you how to make 10K in x months or how to sell x service for 10K, take a moment to think about this promise.

  • Is this really something that can be promised?

  • Is this a program that is based on the method the coach/mentor/service provider has used to reach this themselves? Or are other methods also taught?

  • And what is the reason someone is offering a program with a promise like this? Do you stand at the centre of the program or is it the business owner and their financial gain?

So what can you expect from working with me?

++ Custom programs.

What I can guarantee is that all services that I offer are custom-tailored to your business. Because one-size-fits-all approaches don’t have a place in transforming a business to be more aligned & sustainable.

So we will focus on creating a business and brand strategy that is created just for you based on your business, vision and this-is-enough-for-me-goals. So that you can step into your role as the CEO of your business and turn the vision that you've had for your business into reality.

++ Sustainable methods & strategies.
What I can guarantee is that we won't look at just one element of your business. You can't look at pricing without knowing your revenue goals, how much time your spending on your projects, what your hourly rate is etc because everything is in your business is connected.

That’s why we work on pricing, business model and services to increase profitability, we look at productivity, work on optimising and streamlining business and client processes and how to reach the right audience for your business.

++ Experience
What I can guarantee is that I bring my experience to the table. And when I say "experience", I mean it.

As a former business analyst and pricing manager for a Fortune 500 company, I managed a 65-million dollar revenue portfolio. So I'll bring my left-brained analytical and strategic brain to complement your right-brained creative genius.

  • As a former head of department, I hired and trained staff, streamlined our procedures, optimised our systems and created standard operating procedures. So I'll bring my organisational experience to help you optimise your processes.

  • As a self-taught designer, I have a great understanding of your design business and common roadblocks and struggles and I know what to ask and how to ask it to get to the heart of the issue.

And if you feel it's time to take the reins and take the next step to turn the vision that you've had for your business into reality stay tuned for my email on Monday as I am opening the availability for the 90-Minute Intensive for the coming months.
